Early Morning Dance Party

6am on a Saturday and this is what is going down in my bed!

Hayden was super excited to feel her moving and of course she enjoyed dancing around in there!

32 Weeks

32 Weeks! Only 8 left!!!! GAH!

Baby P is the size of a pineapple this week, which also happened to trigger an incessant craving for pineapple once purchased, hmmmmmm! That bad boy has already been chopped up and eaten…. yum yum! She is close to the 3lb mark and somewhere between 15-16 inches long.

We have had all kinds of movement happening. I even got to see a little footprint the other day. It was gone before I could get a decent picture, and even then it looked like a blob, but it was definitely foot shaped. Lots of kicks to the ribs and punches to the bladder. Tons of pressure and pushing from her legs, especially on my right side. When she moves now my belly seems to shift from side to side, almost like she is doing the wave in there. Still super cool to feel tons of movement cause she still has some room left in there.

With all of this growth though, we have some unfortunate side effects. What I call "crotch lightning" has hit. Just as it sounds this is a sharp lightning flash pain that starts somewhere about your stomach and shoots down right through…well you guessed it, your crotch. I had this with Hayden around this time too and it is just the nerves and things being pushed on. It is fleeting, but man it catches you when it comes. Some leg cramping, and middle of the night parties which keep me awake as well.

Cravings include pineapple (coincidentally), grapefruit, and hotdogs! Not all together I promise! And the last one is definitely weird. I haven't had a hotdog in years and don't generally like them, but man when cravings hit they are intense. I gave in last weekend and bought hotdogs and survived, so hopefully that craving has subsided for now!

Dr appt this past week went well. Blood pressure is looking good, gained 19.6lbs so far, measuring exactly where I should be, and heartbeat was 153bpm. I am a "textbook" case said the dr!!!! The only thing she was concerned about was my iron levels. They are at the low end of normal, which isn't anything to really be concerned about, but I have to make sure I eat lots of things with iron to make sure I don't become anemic.

Other than that not much more has been accomplished on the baby front. We have maternity pics coming up on June 11th…. super excited for those. Re-reading labour and delivery books to brush up on everything. That's about all! Not terribly exciting for us. Just laying low!

Thanks for checking on the blog and hopefully we have some interesting information to post soon! Leave us a comment if you wish! We love to hear what you have to say!

30 WEEKS!

HOLY COW!

30 WEEKS! That means we have only 10 weeks left until we get to meet our sweet baby girl!

Baby P is the size of a cabbage. I had to use a leaf of the cabbage because nesting caused me to use the rest of the cabbage to make cabbage rolls before taking this picture (:D)

I have popped the last couple of weeks feeling very stretched and large. She has nested her little legs and feet in my ribs and frequently uses them as a punching bag. My bladder has become a trampoline as well which is making me have to go to the bathroom more often. However, I am still loving all of the movement she is producing. Very different than Hayden.

Saw the dr today and had to get bloodwork done to do a last check on my iron and vitals before delivery. Baby P's heartbeat was still strong at 154bpm and we are measuring at 31cm. Just slightly bigger than the weeks we are, but makes sense since she is nested up in my ribs. I have only gained 18lbs so far, which is still good and have to be cautious since we will start gaining around a pound a week now.

Nursery has been updated and we have been busy collecting second hand clothes for her. I got 3 boxes of clothes from a friend of mine and have started to organize them since they go from newborn to 24 months. Thanks Kim again for sharing!

No more weird cravings throughout the last couple of weeks, but I have been having dreams that Baby P ends up a boy instead of a girl. GAH… he would be coming home to a very coral nursery and some lovely girly clothes. No other ultrasound scheduled at this point so maybe we won't know until (hopefully) SHE gets here. Curtis thinks I'm nuts!

I am pretty sure we have her name picked out (which I'm not telling) and have been narrowing down middle names that work. Hayden is all excited because he now calls the baby by her name. It has made it a little easier for him to talk to her since he has this information.

The final thing I have been doing is reading up on natural childbirth and pain management methods. Since we won't be taking childbirth classes this time, it was nice to rediscover some of the things I had forgotten. We are also researching a TENS machine, which can help to ease contractions. My strep test in a couple of weeks will determine whether or not I can try to relax in the water or not, so we will make more decision then.

Thanks for checking out our blog and please leave a comment if you can!

Nursery Update

Curtis was home again this past week so we were able to get more stuff done.

He was able to hang up the shelves properly (i.e. NOT using thumbtacks) and hang up my sign. In case you didn't know I hand painted over the blue to make it fit with our nursery decor.

We also got a baby monitor, the last thing we needed brand new. We had this brand with Hayden and loved it. It plays lullabies, you can two way talk through it, and it shows the temperature in the baby's room. We loved it with Hayden and are hoping this "newer" version will be just as good.

Finally we have been working hard going through Hayden's newborn stuff. Since we didn't know his gender, most of our newborn stuff is pretty neutral. So we went through it and washed it all and put it away. We also went through all of the "gear" we had (bassinet bedding, nursing pillow, wrap, receiving blankets, swaddle blankets, and activity pads) and washed it all too. It is all up in her room ready to welcome her.

Now all that is left is getting some baskets to put diapers and essentials in, and clean out the closet.

Thanks for checking! xo

Curtains

Say hello to my weekend sewing project!

After searching every Fabricland in Calgary and buying two "wrong" shades of coral we finally had a winner! The problem was the coral shades looked too orange against the light and didn't match the walls at all. We ended up having to go more the pink route to get something close to the wall colour. I think they match sooooo nicely!

The fabric was more of a crepe fabric but it gives the softness we were looking for. They are somewhat sheer but still solid enough to hold their colour. The fabric was a little hard to work with as it snagged lots, especially when back sewing, but since curtains are so easy it really didn't matter.

These are the pics from start to finish. Hope you enjoy! xo
